As unique as the world's top athletes and their awe-inspiring performances, every medal won at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will be a one-of-a-kind work of art. The medals, revealed on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Olympic and Paralympic Village Vancouver, each feature a different crop of larger contemporary Aboriginal artworks and are undulating rather than flat - both firsts in Games history. The Olympic medals are circular in shape, while the Paralympic medals ...

Hi all, here are some pics I took yesterday while wandering through several of the different eastern neighourboods near downtown. I started by taking the SkyTrain to Commercial Drive, then gradually made my way west into Strathcona, Chinatown, the Downtown Eastside, Gastown, and the ended up in the eastern part of the CBD.

This is Part 1 of 2

Mount Pleasant is one of Vancouver's oldest neighborhoods, described as the oldest suburb, dating from the late 19th century; it's also where I live. It is located southeast of downtown and False Creek. These are a few photos mostly from an afternoon walk, concentrating on a bit of the most central residential and commercial areas around Main, 12th Ave & Broadway. This is just a quick glimpse; so enjoy some of Vancouver's lesser known colour instead of the usual skyscrapers.
